Rafting on the Vilcanota river

Class II and III rapids near Cusco

Half dayModerateUp to 123,000 m.a.s.l.

About the tour

The Vilcanota is the same river that, further down in the Sacred Valley, changes name to the Urubamba — the one that ends up wrapping around Machu Picchu. The section run has class II and III rapids depending on the season: enough to be fun and to get thoroughly soaked, without requiring experience. Safety briefing and practice strokes happen before entering the water. The route passes between hills and farmland, with calm stretches where you can look around. In the rainy season the flow rises and the rapids get stronger, so the section is adjusted by month.
