About the tour
The Inca Jungle is the route for anyone who wants to reach Machu Picchu doing something different each day rather than walking four days straight.
It opens with a roughly 60-kilometre downhill bike ride from the Málaga pass: nearly three thousand metres of descent on paved road, from puna cold to the heat of Santa María. The following days add rafting on the Urubamba, ziplines over the canyon and stretches of walking on Inca paths skirting coffee and coca plantations.
The final day is Machu Picchu. It is demanding in variety more than endurance: no single activity is extreme, but stringing them together over four days asks for decent fitness.

Day-by-day itinerary

Málaga Pass – downhill bike ride – Santa María
Transfer to the Málaga pass and a roughly 60-kilometre downhill bike ride on paved road: nearly three thousand metres of descent, from puna cold to the heat of Santa María.

Rafting and walk to Santa Teresa
Rafting on the Urubamba river and a walk along Inca paths between coffee and coca plantations, with canyon views, to Santa Teresa.

Zipline and Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes
A zipline circuit over the canyon and transfer to Hidroeléctrica. A walk of about 10 kilometres beside the railway to Aguas Calientes.

Machu Picchu and return to Cusco
Guided entry to the citadel and free time. Return to Cusco in the afternoon.

Frequently asked questions
No. The bike descent is on paved road, the rafting is introductory level and the ziplines are run with specialist equipment and staff. It is worth being fit to string them together over four days.
