Machu Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain
The highest summit in the sanctuary
Full dayModerateUp to 123,082 m.a.s.l.
About the tour
Machu Picchu Mountain rises on the far side of the citadel and, at 3,082 metres, is the highest point you can climb within the sanctuary. The path is wider and less exposed than Huayna Picchu's, but the climb is longer: 90 minutes to two hours of continuous steps.
What you gain at the top is breadth. From the summit you see the entire citadel, the Urubamba canyon winding below and, on clear days, the Vilcabamba range beyond.
It is the better option for anyone wanting height and panorama without Huayna Picchu's narrow ledges, and permits are usually easier to secure.
