Cusco City Tour
The imperial city, at your acclimatisation pace
About the tour
Before going up to Machu Picchu or crossing a 4,000-metre pass, your body needs a couple of days to adjust to Cusco's altitude. This half-day city tour is designed for exactly that: enough movement to acclimatise without overdoing it, while you get to know the heart of the old Inca capital.
We start in the historic centre — the Cathedral and Qoricancha, the sun temple on top of which the Spanish built an entire convent without ever managing to bring down the Inca walls — then continue to the four sites ringing the city: the fortress of Sacsayhuamán, the ceremonial centre of Qenqo, the lookout of Puka Pukara and the fountains of Tambomachay.
Your bilingual guide ties each stop to the history of the empire and, along the way, offers practical tips for the rest of your trip around Cusco.
