Day-by-day itinerary
Cusco city tour
A tour of Qoricancha, the sun temple on which the Santo Domingo convent was built, and the complexes of Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay. It also serves as acclimatisation to 3,400 m.
Chinchero, Maras and Moray
A day in the upper Sacred Valley: looms and natural dyes in Chinchero, the concentric circular terraces of Moray and the three thousand-plus salt pans of Maras. Overnight in the valley, at 2,800 m.
Ollantaytambo and transfer to Aguas Calientes
Visit to the fortress and town of Ollantaytambo, its Inca layout still inhabited. In the afternoon, train to Aguas Calientes.
Machu Picchu and return
Early entry to the citadel with a guide: agricultural sector, urban sector, Temple of the Sun and Sacred Plaza. Return to Cusco by train in the afternoon.
