About the tour
Huchuy Qosqo means "little Cusco" in Quechua, and the name fits: it is a complex of terraces, kallankas and a three-storey adobe building on stone foundations, perched at 3,600 metres above the Sacred Valley.
What stands out is how few people go. Access is on foot only, by an Inca path climbing from Tambomachay, over a 4,300-metre pass, then down to the site with the Urubamba valley opening below.
It suits anyone who wants to walk a genuine Inca path without committing four days or competing for a permit. You can finish by descending to Lamay or continue to Machu Picchu by train from Ollantaytambo.

Tambomachay – high pass – Huchuy Qosqo
The Inca path begins at Tambomachay, climbing to a pass of about 4,300 m and descending towards Huchuy Qosqo, with the Urubamba valley opening below. Overnight near the site.

Huchuy Qosqo and descent to the Sacred Valley
A walk through the terraces and buildings of the complex, and the descent to Lamay, in the Sacred Valley, for the return.
