Classic Inca Trail 4D/3N
The original trek to the Sun Gate
About the tour
The Classic Inca Trail is how you are meant to arrive at Machu Picchu: on foot, along the same stone route the Incas built over 500 years ago, crossing ecological tiers that run from cold puna to cloud forest.
Four days, three nights under canvas, porters who carry the heavy loads and a trekking cook who prepares hot meals every day — all you have to worry about is walking and arriving. Day two, the hardest, climbs to the Warmiwañusca pass (Dead Woman's Pass) at 4,215 m; day three takes in the lesser-known archaeological sites along the route.
On the final morning we set out before dawn to reach Inti Punku — the Sun Gate — and watch Machu Picchu emerge with the first light, before the buses arrive from Aguas Calientes.
