Ausangate Circuit

A full loop around the greatest apu of the south

5 days / 4 nightsExpertUp to 125,100 m.a.s.l.

About the tour

The Ausangate circuit is the hardest and most remote trek available from Cusco. It loops right around a 6,384-metre peak, crossing four passes above 4,800 metres, and never drops below 4,000. There are no villages along the way and no archaeological sites: what there is is glacier, meltwater lakes in impossible colours, hot springs rising from the ground, and alpaca-herding families who live up there year-round. On clear days the rainbow mountain detour can be added. It requires previous high-altitude trekking experience and serious acclimatisation in Cusco. This is not a beginner's trek.
