Cusco food tour
Markets, native potatoes and a cooking class
Half dayEasyUp to 123,400 m.a.s.l.
About the tour
Peru grows over three thousand potato varieties, and in a Cusco market you can see dozens of them at one stall, each with its Quechua name and specific use. That alone justifies the walk.
The tour starts in the markets — San Pedro and a less touristy neighbourhood one — tasting Amazonian fruits that do not exist outside the country, high-altitude cheeses, wood-oven breads and fresh juices. The guide explains what each thing is and how it is used.
Then comes the practical part: a class cooking Andean dishes with those ingredients, and eating what you made. It is a way to understand Peruvian food from the ingredient up, rather than from a restaurant menu.
