Maras and Moray by bike

The Sacred Valley, downhill

Full dayModerateUp to 123,550 m.a.s.l.

About the tour

The Maras plateau is ideal cycling terrain: packed dirt roads, gentle gradients and the Verónica glacier in view for most of the route. The ride reaches Moray first, where the Incas dug concentric circular terraces up to 30 metres deep. The temperature difference between the top and bottom levels reaches several degrees, letting them trial crops from different ecological tiers in one place. It then descends to the salt pans: more than three thousand stepped basins fed by a salt spring that has run since before the Incas, still worked in shifts by Maras families today.
